Description
Description
Native to the edges of woodlands in eastern North America, Cimicifuga performs best in partial shade and moist, organically enriched soil. Some direct sunlight is required to draw out the purple coloration in the foliage. Water supply should remain constant throughout the spring, summer and autumn. Cimicifuga takes a few years to get established and reach maturity. Mature clumps should not be disturbed.

Perennial Hillside Black Beauty Black Snakeroot - CIMICIFUGA r. 'Hillside Black Beauty'. 4-7' tall, 3-4' spread, part-full shade, late summer-mid fall bloom. Though the young foliage tends to be green, it quickly deepens to an almost iridescent purple-black. In late summer, the tall stems are topped with foot-long, fragrant, white flowers blushed with pale pink. Forms a striking, upright clump that creates a wonderfully lacy, airy backdrop in the garden. Especially attractive when combined with variegated or yellow foliage. Attracts butterflies & is bee friendly. Deer & rabbit resistant. Zones 4-8. Potted in 3" pot.
