Fireworks Goldenrod
Check Your Zone
Description
SOLIDAGO r. ‘Fireworks’. 3-4′ tall with equal spread, full sun, late summer-late fall bloom. Electric-yellow flowers appear to rocket off the plant like fireworks on the 4th of July. Often Goldenrod gets blamed for causing allergies to flare but, do not confuse this wonderful perennial with its nasty look-a-like, ragweed. Attracts butterflies & is bee friendly! Deer & rabbit resistant. Native. Zones 4-9. Potted in 3″ pot.
Easily grown in average, dry to medium, well-drained soils in full sun. Prefers somewhat fertile soils, but tolerates poor soils. Remove spent flower clusters to encourage additional bloom. This is a rhizomatous, spready species that can rapidly colonize an area by creeping rhizomes and self-seeding. Removal of flower heads (deadheading) prior to ripening of seed will help prevent unwanted self-seeding.
