Warm season. Sorghastrum is a perennial grass which typically occurs in prairies, glades & open woods. Cut back in late winter or early spring to about 4-6 inches high which is easiest if it is completed before the new season’s foliage emerges. Deadhead after flowering if you are concerned about reseeding in the garden and landscape.
