Description
VERONICA l. Vernique® ‘Dark Blue’. 12-18" tall, 12-16" spread, full sun-part shade, late spring-late summer bloom. Eye-catching spikes of dark violet-blue flowers rise above crisp green foliage, adding a lively splash of color wherever it’s planted. With its compact, well-behaved growth habit and lush, tidy form, it’s a perfect choice for borders, containers or edging pathways. Long-lasting blooms and pollinator appeal make this a true garden treasure. Attracts Butterflies, hummingbirds and is bee friendly. Deer and rabbit resistant. Zones 4-8. Potted in 3" pot.
Veronica is highly valued for its ease of growth and long bloom time. The spiky flowers are an excellent contrast to the more common rounded flower shapes like Shasta Daisies, Coneflower, and Black Eyed Susans. Expect bees to be buzzing about this plant when in bloom.
Deadheading is recommended to encourage even more blooms, which attract more pollinators and are great for cutting. This variety of Speedwell tolerates some shade, but it does not like dry soils.
