This attractive grass has bamboo like foliage that thrives in moist sites but is quite tolerant of dry conditions when grown is shadier settings. Seedheads appear midsummer and are green but turn coppery in fall then brown in winter.

CHASMANTHIUM latifolium. 2-4′ tall, 1-2 ½’ spread, full sun-full shade. A clump-forming, upright, ornamental grass, mostly distinguished by the flat seedheads which hang in terminal clusters on thread-like pedicels from slightly arching stems. Seedheads develop green but turn purplish bronze by late summer. Bright green leaves turn a coppery color after frost and eventually brown by winter. Deer resistant. Zones 5-9. Potted in 3″ pot.
